This is an unusual ryokan as each spacious tatami-style room contains a traditional Japanese hearth in the center of the main sitting area.

While not exactly elegant, the ryokan's qualities definitely evoke a more traditional time.

A special day-visit with a lunch (Y4,000), or a dinner (Y5,000), is available and makes for a pleasant way to experience Sugishima ryokan.
