Access

Local Train Station: Yuzawa
From Tokyo: Take the JR Shinkansen, Komachi, to Oomagari. Then transfer to JR Oou line to Oomagari station. From the station, take a bus, direction Doro-yu onsen, and get off at the last station. Hike for 15 min.
Travel Time: Tokyo to Oomagari 4 hr 50 min. Oomagari to Yuzawa 1 hr 10 min. Yuzawa to Doro-yu Onsen, 1 hr and 10 min

Kawarage onsen is 100 percent natural hot springs. The hot water comes down through a waterfalls which originated 20 meter higher. The temperature of the springs is just perfect to stay in and relax. The two waterfalls created the dips in the huge rocks and enable people to soak.

Because the temperature of the water is raised only during July and September, people rush to get to the hot spring during this three month period. You may face crowd on the weekends. Also people tend to use bathing suits here.
