Tokyo is the capital of Japan. It is true that Tokyo people are more sophisticated and fashionable than the rest of Japan. The crazy Harajuku fashion trend is not only popular among Japanese, but it is starting to come in for copy-cats overseas.
There are many things in Japan best experienced in Tokyo -- the subway and train network, for example. It's a complex system that is really a work of art. The tangle of train lines cris-cross the city and spill out into all ends of the country.
Visiting a nightclub and izakaya (a local, traditional eatery) is also fun. If you want to visit one of the trendier clubs, do your research because what's hot one day can be stone cold the next.
Really, the only drawback to having fun in Tokyo are the prices. Watch out!
